Tips for your Breakfast Week event

With under two months to go until the start of Breakfast Week 2015, it’s time to start planning. We thought it would be helpful to share our top tips for hosting a successful Breakfast Week event!

  • Plan early!
If you haven’t already done so, start thinking about the type of event you want to host now. We have got lots of suggestions for how to get involved so take a look if you need a little inspiration. You will need some time to promote your event and invite people to attend so firm up the details as soon as you can!
  • Order our free resources
We have developed a range of free resources to support your events and activities during Breakfast Week. There are posters which can help promote what you’re doing, recipe booklets which you can use to make breakfast foods for your event or as giveaways on the day, stickers which will be popular with kids and table talkers which highlight breakfast facts and create a talking point.
  • Media coverage
This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of your business, organisation, school or activity in the community so why not issue a press release to local media to share details of your event and show how you are supporting the national Breakfast Week campaign. You can download a press release template and just complete the text in red to make it relevant to your event.
  • Register your event
Make sure to register your event, promotion or activity on our UK event map to show your support for the campaign. This will also help us to share details with any media that we are talking to.
  • Take some great photos
Book a photographer so you can share photos with local press, on your website and social channels after the event (use the hashtag #BreakfastWeek when you do). We love to receive photos from events that have taken place during Breakfast Week and will share them on our Facebook page and website photo gallery. Please email any photos to breakfast@hgca.ahdb.org.uk
  • Share the breakfast message
Help to spread the message that breakfast is the most important meal of the day! The key messages of the campaign are:
  • Breakfast benefits you and your family and can help make you healthier and happier
  • Breakfast eaters tend to be slimmer than breakfast skippers
  • Breakfast provides you with the energy and nutrients needed for an active lifestyle
  • Have fun!
And finally make sure you have fun at your event – food is to be enjoyed!
