Phil Vickery joins the team

We’ve been planning Breakfast Week 2015 for a while now and can finally share some exciting news with you – Phil Vickery has joined the team and is calling on the nation to shake up your wake up.


We’re delighted to be working with Phil who, like us, believes that breakfast is one of the meal occasions we do best as a nation. Phil has

developed two fantastic new recipes for you to try at home - his Sausage & Tomato Breakfast Frittata for a leisurely weekend breakfast with family and friends, and his Muesli Breakfast Biscuits which you can make in advance and grab before you leave the house to enjoy on the go.

Phil’s also shared his top breakfast tips. With the mornings turning colder, here’s Phil’s top tip on how to make the perfect porridge: “Well, believe it or not I find the best way is in a microwave. Yes, microwave! I add double the amount of water or milk to oats and cook on a high heat for 2 minutes. Remove, stir well and cook for a further couple of minutes. The more you stir the creamier it will become. In fact I have found that making it the day before and re-warming is just as good.”

It’s not just about home breakfast though – Phil is also supporting the Best Breakfast Awards – which open for registrations from 1st October. The overall winner will be chosen by public vote, but Phil will be joining us in the week to present a special award to the dish we feel is the most unique or innovative.
