Make the Most of the Best Breakfast Awards

Following their successful launch last year, The Best Breakfast Awards are back and the next fortnight is the key time for drumming up customer votes. Cafes, hotels, farm shops and bed and breakfasts, are amongst those are eligible to enter their breakfast dishes for a chance to be crowned as a ‘Best Breakfast’ winner. Entries don’t close until the 16th January and the awards are a great way to raise your profile. To register simply fill in our Best Breakfast Awards Entry Form.

Your customers can vote for their favourite Best Breakfast online until the 18th January. The results will be announced during Breakfast Week (25th- 31st January) and one of the winning venues will receive a visit from TV Chef, Phil Vickery, who will present a special award for the most unique or innovative dish.

To help you make the most of the awards here are some of our top tips

  • Tell your customers: Remember it’s the number of votes you receive that will decide if you are a Best Breakfast winner, so it’s vital to ensure the competition is clearly displayed in your venue. Use the posters provided and include these in your January menu.
  • Encourage your staff to spread the word. Use the competition as an opportunity to tell your customers more about the breakfasts you serve – from where you source your sausages, to news about any up and coming promotions and events you are holding during Breakfast Week.
  • Offer voting slips at the till: Offer customers a voting slip to complete as they pay for their breakfast – this is especially important if they can’t access the internet to vote, when they are in the venue. Make sure you get these back to us though by Friday 16th January so that we can include them in the final count.
  • Spread the word! We will be contacting media but it can be helpful for you to also send them information. If easier use our Best Breakfast Awards template release. If you are planning a special menu or event for Breakfast Week, do make sure you include information about this too.
  • Invite local journalists for breakfast. This is a great way for them to see at first hand why you are a contender for a Best Breakfast Award!
  • Breakfast online: If you have a website, Facebook page or Twitter account, use them to help spread the word. Put links to www.shakeupyourwakeup.com/breakfastawards in a prominent place – so even those customers who haven’t visited you lately can still support you or download our Best Breakfast Awards web banners.

So go on – shake up your wake up and tell everyone why you serve the best breakfast!
